Gregory R. Thoreson, MD, FACS is a board-certified urologist specializing in prostate disease, urologic oncology, robotic surgery, men’s health, stone disease, recurrent urinary tract infections, and advanced urologic care. He is a Partner with Urology Clinics of North Texas and is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care using the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies.

Dr. Thoreson earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin and his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his General Surgery internship and Urology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Thoreson serves as Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Surgery at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas, and Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at Texas A&M Health Science Center.

Dr. Thoreson serves as Assistant Director of Genitourinary Research and is a member of the Surgical Quality Assurance Peer Review Committee at Baylor University Medical Center. His leadership roles have included serving as Medical Director of the Department of Clinical Research at Urology Clinics of North Texas. He has served as principal investigator and sub-investigator on numerous clinical trials evaluating therapies for prostate cancer, bladder cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), overactive bladder, and other urologic conditions.

His research interests include the development of next-generation medical technologies, clinical outcomes research, artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, prostate cancer diagnostics, and innovative approaches to improving surgical and perioperative care. He is a co-investigator on an NIH-supported Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant focused on the development of advanced medical device technologies.

Dr. Thoreson has authored peer-reviewed publications in prostate cancer diagnostics, perioperative outcomes, biomarker development, and emerging urologic technologies. He has also served as an invited international lecturer on prostate cancer, participating in programs focused on advances in diagnosis, treatment selection, and emerging therapeutics. He remains actively involved in clinical research and translational collaborations aimed at improving patient outcomes and advancing the future of urologic care.

Dr. Thoreson is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
