Allen F. Morey, M.D., FACS
Dr. Morey is a graduate of Lafayette College and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences School of Medicine. Following a fellowship in Urologic Trauma and Reconstruction at the University of California San Francisco 1995-1997, Dr Morey completed 20 years of active duty service in the US Army Medical Corps. His assignments included Chief of Urology at Brooke Army Medical Center and Urology Consultant to the Army Surgeon General. His military honors include the Legion of Merit award, the Airborne Parachutist’s Badge, and a combat service patch for duty in Iraq.
Dr. Morey was Professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center 2007-2023, where he held the Distinguished Chair in Urologic Reconstruction in honor of Allen F. Morey, M.D. There he founded and directed the successful UTSW Fellowship program in Urologic Trauma, Reconstruction, and Prosthetics which has produced 23 graduates, many of whom are now leaders in academic practice around the country.
Dr. Morey served as President of both the American Urological Association (AUA) South Central Section in 2013 and the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS) in 2014. His honors include the 2016 AUA Distinguished Contribution Award, the 2019 Ferdinand C. Valentine Award from the New York Medical Academy for contributions in the field of urology, and the 2022 F. Brantley Scott Award for contributions in prosthetic urology. He is a member of the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons (AAGUS) and has published over 500 peer reviewed articles.
He presently serves on the AUA Urethral Stricture and Urotrauma Guidelines Committees, and he serves as Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Urology (ABU) and Surgical Education Committee Chair of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA).
