Cigna Healthcare
Dear UCNT valued patient,
We are writing to inform you of a potential change in our practice’s relationship with Cigna Healthcare. After a thorough negotiation process, we have been unable to reach a new agreement with Cigna, and our current contract expires on December 31, 2025.
If an agreement is not reached before the expiration date, Cigna commercial and Medicare Advantage plan members will lose in-network access to UCNT effective January 1, 2026. This loss of in-network access includes all locations where UCNT currently provides services.
UCNT remains hopeful that it will retain in-network status with Cigna. The ultimate goal is to reach an agreement on fair market contractual rates that reflect the usual and customary rates for services performed in North Texas so that we can continue to provide high-quality care to our patients. As it stands, patients who are Cigna commercial and Medicare Advantage plan members can expect the following:
- No Changes Through December 31, 2025: Cigna patients will continue to have in-network access to quality care at UCNT through the end of the year.
- Plan Ahead: Out of precaution, we are encouraging patients with planned healthcare needs in early 2026 to consider scheduling that care for December 2025 or sooner. We always recommend that patients evaluate all options during open enrollment to ensure personalized needs will be best satisfied. UCNT remains in network with Medicare Advantage plans through other major payers including Blue Cross Blue Shield, United, and Aetna, though patients should make their own independent and informed decisions on which carriers to select based on their individualized needs. 2026 Open enrollment for Medicare runs from October 15, 2025, to December 7, 2025, please visit medicare.com or call 1-800-MEDICARE to compare plans and find information about your coverage needs.
- Potential Out-of-Network Impact in 2026: There is still time for Cigna and UCNT to come to an agreement on in-network terms. However, in case an agreement is not reached in time, we are notifying patients to keep them informed of prospective out-of-network status for 2026 and beyond.
- Emergency Services will remain available and covered regardless of insurance status.
We will continue to provide timely updates so that you and your family can make informed decisions regarding your care. Our highest priority is to ensure that we continue to provide exceptional care to all our patients and their families.
Sincerely,
Jerri Wilson
